Highlander Theater Company begins its “Live At Lunch” series

Isabella Milanowski, 2021

Think there’s no live theater happening? Think again! Since this year we have no school hallways and staircases to put posters on, we are depending on our allies in the school community to help get the word out about these events. Now more than ever a creative space for students is needed, and we hope that people who need this space will find it.

Live@Lunch is a performance series dedicated to showcasing student written and student directed work. Performances will take place on select Wednesdays at 11:30 am via our streaming link at www.highlandertheatre.org/live. The first performance is on December 16th.
LIVE@Lunch will feature three short plays, each followed by a talk-back with the creative team:  My First Panic Attack, written by SHS junior Mary Duffy and directed by guest artist Billie Stouter Hassebrock is an honest retelling of living with anxiety and finding support in unlikely ways.  I’ve Never Been Catcalled, written by August Foreman and directed by SHS Senior Athena Parkman centers on one writer’s challenge to write the next great feminist piece. Words, Words, Words, by David Ives, directed by Mr. Jabour features SHS students JQ Welch, Lara Gordon, and Jane Paradis in the story of three monkeys in a lab tasked with writing Hamlet from scratch.
The Highlander Theatre Company Call Board (Google Classroom) is the place to go for updates on all the theatre happenings this year. In addition to the opportunities above, we are planning many easy, fun, low-commitment ways to get involved with the SHS theatre community from small scale Zoom productions to movie nights and talk-backs that students can participate in from home. Classroom Code: 3iy2n2z
